Sorry for the delays
I just want to make an apology to everyone for slowless of getting orders out and e-mailing lately. I’ve actually been really quite sick for the last 2 (almost 3) weeks… “the dreaded lergy” (earache, head feeling like it wants to explode, going through 10 thousand boxes of tissues, fever, coughing up half a lung, and sleeping a lot). So things have been getting a bit backed up while I’m trying to get work stuff done as well as general life stuff and needing to sleep and rest. Quite a few days I haven’t trusted myself to drive I’ve been so stuffed up I’ve been a bit dizzy…. so orders were sent late. And I mean to reply to e-mails and end up getting distracted and then going to bed before I’ve had a chance to e-mail….So that’s why I’ve been slacker than normal getting e-mails sent and getting orders posted out. I am very sorry, but I’m trying to get on top of things, and I’m seemingly at the tail end of it now (I was just getting better before, and then seemed to catch a variant of my mum – sharing soul she is
and got sick again)

Obsidian Star Goes Green…er
Well as you may or may not know, the environment is a concern of mine (I switched to cloth pads for that reason)…. and I’ve made the switch to unbleached 100% recycled paper postage envelopes and paper and some biodegradable stickytape (Still looking for packing tape so I can completely switch).
So from now on all the instructions sheets (after I use up the few I’d already printed on normal paper), will be on unbleached recycled paper, and sent in unbleached recycled paper envelopes. I still have many of the non recycled envelopes left, so some orders will be sent in those until I’ve used them up.
It was nice opening the box of them… all the different packs of envelopes were tied with string
The usual ziplock bag to keep your goodies safe from weather and dirt will still be there, and that’s not recyclable.. but it is reusable. Once I find a cellulose packing tape, I can stop using the plastic too which means you can compost the envelopes with the tape attached – otherwise, just take the tape off.
I tried to find recycled tissue paper – but I was only able to find toilet paper
So I think my usual purple paper will stay!
So its only a small step, but I feel better that not only do I recycle at home, I’m now buying recycled products to lessen my impact even more.
I even use “enviro pens” – they are a normal biro but instrad of the plastic outer shell, they are paper wrapped around to make a thick tube. I was only able to find reference to them here http://www.globalcatalogue.com/detailpens.aspx?ProductID=P185&status=STOCK&PenStyle=Plastic. I found them in my local post office, so I bought several packs of them.

Bamboo pads at Bamboo Fabric Store
I’ve made up some bamboo pads for Megan at www.bamboofabricstore.com
These are bamboo velour, fleece and jersey topped pads and pantyliners, with bamboo fleece core – to be as bambooey as possible
If you’re wondering what bamboo jersey is, I urge you to try it. Like cotton jersey (t-shirt material), but even softer and silkier. Its really quite lovely, and its 100% bamboo.
There are some bamboo velour pads there, that hopefully won’t last long, so go and grab some while you can…http://www.bamboofabricstore.com.au/womens-products.html
I meant to take a pic of them all before sending, but forgot… so you’ll have to go there to have a look
